Sedation Dentistry - Nitrous Oxide Sedation - Sleep Dentistry

Nitrous Oxide sedation can significantly improve cooperation with dental treatments. In one form of conscious inhalation sedation, nitrous oxide gas (also known as laughing gas) is used to induce a state of relaxation. A local anesthetic will be administered in combination with nitrous oxide sedation to eliminate pain. Nitrous Oxide is the most common conscious sedation technique in the dental offices. Nitrous oxide offers patients the possibility of recieving dental care with reduced level of fear and anxiety and reduced pain. Demand for Nitrous Oxide sedation continues to increase. It has withstood the test of time; reduces barriers to care for fearful, phobic, and special needs patients; is safe and efficacious; and aids the provision of care by clinicians.
